Jevin Surjadi (Indonesia)
The fish suddenly moved as if in slow motion, pausing for the peak moment to pose. It was magnificent, says Jevin Surjadi, who cheerfully sang a song for the Mola Mola hoping to make a telepathic bond before the fish finally glanced and turned to approach him. He confessed, “I had to do something different, there were probably a hundred other divers watching the Mola Mola at that time. It was like a red carpet celebrity show with flashes blinking endlessly.”
Being an underwater photographer specialist and owner of Indonesia Fun-In Underwater Store and Gallery, Jevin has always been enchanted by underwater world. His earliest childhood memory about fish started at the age of 6, which until now, he can still recollect the happy feeling every time he went to the fish store. With the introduction of diving in 2011 at the age of 33, he began rekindling the memory with the underwater world and took passion in capturing categorically stunning Indonesian underwater images.
“It is a blessing to have such an abundance of underwater beauty in our country,” says Jevin, who hopes to still be able of taking underwater photos for another ⅓ century of his life.
