OUR WORLD UNDERWATER 2007 WINNERS
2007 – 2nd Annual Wetpixel.com and DivePhotoGuide.com International Photo Competition  at Our World-Underwater

Best of Show

Jose Alejandro Alvarez
Dominican Republic

Wetpixel.com and DivePhotoGuide.com, in association with the Our World Underwater dive show in Chicago, are proud to announce the winners of the 2nd annual international photo & video competition. Photographers from around the world competed in six still categories and one video category. In the true spirit of an international competition, winners from 17 countries shared in over $35,000 in prizes.  Congratulations to all the winners!

The competition included unrestricted and traditional macro and wide angle categories, as well as a category for images that focus on conservation and the marine environment, and one specifically for entries taken by compact digital cameras.

Esteemed judges Eric Cheng (Wetpixel), Stephen Frink, Dr. Alex Mustard and Tony Wu (Fins) had the difficult task of selecting winners from entries that flooded in from all over the world

Competitions such as this are not possible without the support of generous sponsors. Winners were awarded premium dive travel packages to some of the top photo destinations in the world, photo equipment, dive gear, signed books, DVD’s and more! Dive packages included trips to South Africa, Socoros Islands, Raja Empat, Komodo, the Galapagos, Bora Bora, the Solomon Islands, Manado, Lembeh Strait, Yap, Cocos (Keeling) Island, Grand Cayman, and the Bahamas. Special offers from competition sponsors can be found on the competition website.

As a competition that celebrates the beauty and delicacy of our oceans and reefs, 15% of entry proceeds are donated to vital marine conservation efforts.
