| CATEGORIES |
The Majesty of the Oceans
Images in this category celebrate the majestic oceans. Choose images that illustrate the power, scale, and beauty of the underwater realm. This category has no rules regarding digital manipulation. Anything goes, but as we are not running a digital manipulation contest, you should exercise care in the decisions that you make.
The Macro World
Part of the reason the underwater ecosystem is so fascinating is that there are observable worlds of existence even when viewed through a magnifying glass (or, in this case, a macro lens). Images submitted to this category should show how fascinating, strange, and colorful life is at the macro level. This category has no rules regarding digital manipulation. Anything goes, but as we are not running a digital manipulation contest, you should exercise care in the decisions that you make.
Man and Sea
This category celebrates the special relationship between Man (or woman!) and the water. Choose your best images that includes divers, swimmers, or an illustrated relationship between humans and the oceans/seas/lakes. This category has no rules regarding digital manipulation. Anything goes, but as we are not running a digital manipulation contest, you should exercise care in the decisions that you make.
California
Underwater or split images featuring the beauty of California waters. In this category, submitted images must have been taken underwater somewhere off the coast of California. This category has no rules regarding digital manipulation. Anything goes, but as we are not running a digital manipulation contest, you should exercise care in the decisions that you make.
Video Vignette
Best underwater video vignette under 60 seconds long. Subject matter is open, but video must be at least 70% underwater footage, and judges will want to see you maximize impact in such a short amount of time. See Guidelines and Instructions for complete details.
