WINNERS HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED!
On the heels of announcing the winners of the prestigious US-based international underwater photo and video competition in association with Our World Underwater, DivePhotoGuide & Wetpixel are proud to announce the winners of the 2009 DEEP Indonesia competition. Part of a unique series of international competitions, DEEP Indonesia is one of two international competitions in association with major dive expos on opposite sides of the world, which have been organized to provide a complementary series of categories and prizing opportunities. The series has attracted some of the best underwater photographers in the world and in 2009 has collectively awarded over $80,000!
Photographers competed in seven themed categories (Divers, Animal Portraits, Animal Behavior, Reefscapes, Environment & Conservation, Compact Camera, and Indonesian Residents) to win over $30,000 in prizes, including photo equipment, dive gear, and premium dive travel packages to some of the top photo destinations in Indonesia and beyond. Indonesia trips include Bali, Fak Fak, Komodo, Lembeh, Manado, and Raja Empat. Additional dive packages include Papua New Guinea and The Bahamas. The competition included a category for images that focus on conservation and the marine environment, one specifically for entries taken by compact digital cameras, and one specifically for Indonesian residents..
A panel of esteemed judges included leading professional underwater photographers Cor Bosman and Tony Wu and Scuba Diving AustralAsia editor David Espinosa.
Winners will be published by our media partners worldwide and were exhibited during the DEEP Indonesia Expo in Jakarta, Indonesia (March 27 - 29, 2009).
As with all Underwatercompetition.com events, 15% of entry proceeds will be donated to marine conservation efforts.
